Within Beyond Between

Within Beyond Between manifested in response to Jessica Clark’s initial PhD practice-led curatorial research that investigated intercultural curatorial models for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australian art at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne. The exhibition featured works by Travis Ficarra, Teresa Hsieh, Hayley Millar Baker and Angelina Pwerle.

The development and realisation of the exhibition involved conversations with the artists, introducing Clark’s research, and inviting them to contribute to a curatorial experiment – an exhibition without a preconceived rationale, without a predetermined floorplan and curatorial response, and with a duration of five days: the works, the curator, and the gallery space.
